She had sex and then she was ‘knocked up.’ But unlike the summer blockbuster, this little movie examines pregnancy in a less comical and more genuine way as seen through the eyes of Juno (Ellen Page) a 16 year old girl who makes the decision to have the baby. Her boyfriend, Paulie Bleeker, (Michael “Superbad” Cera) plays the typicaly nerdy, scraggily teen – part supportive, part plain stupid. And her parents, the McGuffs (Alison Janney and J K Simmons) are more supportive and accepting than one would imagine. Jennifer Garner is perfectly cast as the white bread adoptive mother. While the movie is at times over-written, every character is sweet as pie. One can expect Miss Page to be nominated for an Oscar in this incredible breakout performance. Four tiaras
