When Margot (Nicole Kidman) and her son Claude decide to attend the wedding of her sister Pauline (Jennifer Jason Leigh) after she announces that she’s marrying Malcolm (Jack Black) all the family secrets might just be revealed. Malcolm is “the kind of losers we dated in high school” begins Margot, propelling the two sisters into a world of blurting out whatever comes to mind. Jack Black might take a stretch-of-a-role outside his normal comedy choices, but it’s writer/director Noah Baumbach who should know better. Baumbach brought us the highly successful “Squid and The Whale” a movie rich in family-depths, affairs, and ghosts in the closet. The big secret here is that this pointless story with appalling characters never should have opened the closet door or been let out. One tiara
