When Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) is out hunting and stumbles across several dead bodies, a dead dog, a stash of heroin and a suitcase full of $2 million dollars, next thing he knows, he’s the one being hunted. And like past Coen Brothers movies, this one delivers mayhem, greed and money (think “Fargo” or “Blood Simple.”) Shot with a steady brilliance, every detail has impact on the audience even when the actor is only looking at the bottom of his shoe. Every bit of pacing keeps us glued to our seats in fear and anticipation of the outcome. And every time we see Anton (Javier Bardem) on screen, we know there’s going to be trouble. The Coen Brothers have managed a modern day western with an old west feel – think “High Noon” or any great John Wayne classic – like the scene in this one when there will be a showdown as the Town Sheriff (Tommy Lee Jones) stands in a doorway with his gun shadowed by the evening lamp post. There is an invasive calm about this tale that discreetly makes it one of the best movies of the year. In fact the only thing missing is Steve Buscemi. Four tiaras
