Derek (Idris Elba) is a successful assets manager with a beautiful wife (Beyonce Knowles), a beautiful house, a beautiful baby and a new Benz. The Benz matters because much later on in a “you-cheated-on-me” moment, Beyonce demands the car keys.
When a new, hot, blonde and ultra-efficient temp named Lisa (Ali Larter) shows up at Derek’s company for a few days too many, she puts the moves on Derek in a game of reversed sexual harassment. His life begins to unravel. This movie is the laughable version of “Fatal Attraction,” and the generic version of “Unfaithful,” which is surprising since writer David Loughery put a pen to some pretty impressive flicks back in the late 80s – “Passenger 57,” “The Three Musketeers” and “Sleeping with the Enemy” (though uncredited on the latter.) The movie is all plot with no character. Its also too fast moving for a sexual thriller and no very-secure-wife (especially somebody like Beyonce) is going to act this insecure. The film lacks the sexual seduction and pacing that earned Diane Lane an Oscar nomination for “Unfaithful.” This is more like Beyonce cat-fighting some bee-ach in the ladies room with a lot of attitude. Everything is spoken instead of suggested and you have to love a wife who orders her husband to move out – to the “Four Seasons.” Clearly this was written pre-recession because three months and $500 a night later not including room service, she might just take him back. One tiara and that’s just because they didn’t boil any bunnies in a pot.
