Richie (Justin Timberlake) says everybody gambles….cards, sports, real estate…and in some cases, like Timberlake’s, he gambles on his college tuition since student loans just aren’t working out. As the Master of Finance – sort of the Social Network dude of Black Jack, and with $21,000 due on tuition at Princeton, he acts as a middle man driving web traffic to a gambling site.
To up the game, he flies to Costa Rica for a gambling convention, where he comes upon Ivan Block (Ben Affleck) who was a big deal on Wall Street and now trains Timberlake on becoming one of his men (Think Wall Street 2 meets 21). A ‘flush’ in Costa Rica is 4 x the profit which will guarantee him 7 figures in the first 3 months.
The question is, does Affeck want to go back and get his Masters, or work for Affleck? The anwer…is easy. The problem is while Timberlake makes a great and convincing muli-talented singer turned actor, it’s Affleck that’s just hard to buy as a bad guy. He’s too nice.
Rebecca (Gemma Arteton) the gorgeous British actress becomes the eye candy backdrop and love interest. ♚ ♛
