The making of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent classic “Nosferatu”, the first and possibly most acclaimed adaptation of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”, John Malkovich stars as the director Murnau who tests social limits with a passion to make the perfect masterpiece. Malkovich’s genius is similar to his past characters with a bizarre twist (like last year’s “Being John Malkovich”) and Willem Dafoe as Max Schreck (who portrays the Dracula character) is of Oscar worthy nomination. The story’s style touches slightly on a similar “Ed Wood” (Tim Burton’s best). A favorite scene is when Malkovich as the director, is arguing with the star of the movie, Dracula, about who is more important to a film’s completion on the “food chain”, thus, deciding not to eat the writer but instead sucking the blood of the script assistant.
