We all grew up believing – because of these darn fairy tales – that our Prince would show up on a white horse, kiss us, and whisk us away to his castle. And in this version of the fairy tale, we have the poisonous apple, the Fairest of them all, the mirror mirror on the wall, but we also have a Snow White (Kristen Stewart) with a bit of bite to her innoncence.
When her daddy the King is poisoned on their wedding night by the wicked Queen (Charlize Theron) she imprisons her stepchild, the Princess, Snow White, to the top of the castle’s dungeon where she will remain.
Fast forward Snow’s a teenager now, escapes the castle for the Dark Forest, and the Queen hires a Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) to hunt her down. Because to this “Mommy Dearest” Queen, the young girl’s youth and beauty is what she must steal – her heart – to keep herself eternal. Honestly, a little bit of Oil of Olay may have helped her dry lines but apparently CVS didn’t exist in those times.
In a cool twist, the Huntsman teams up with Stewart’s character who goes from velvet Princess gown to Purple Rain Prince attire, before her real life Prince (Sam Spruell) comes into the picture. The problem is that once he arrives we already love Snow White with the Huntsman so a love triangle is set up. And undoubtedly a franchise “Twilight” style.
But the scene-stealer is Theron, who really rolls into her role as the Queen, while Stewart’s Snow White turns into Joan of Arc. Two and a half tiaras
