Zoe (Jennifer Lopez) is a corporate girl who cashes it all in to run a pet store. She’s also a girl with a ticking clock. So much so, that she forfeits the idea of a real man and opts to get pregnant via sperm donor. But, the very afternoon she leaves the clinic and gets into a spat over “who had the taxi first” with a guy named Stan (Alex O’Loughlin) a.k.a. the-about-to-be-man-of-her-dreams, all of her plans are about to change. Or, what’s that saying: Tell God you have a plan and he laughs. Stan is a bit hard on selling himself to her, but that’s okay, he comes with skills. Apparently he can milk a goat since he owns a farm upstate. And besides, he’s hot. Their first date turns out to be the day she discovers her due date, and soon Stan finds himself being “Saint Stan” to a big “I didn’t sign up for this” insane relationship with a pregnant woman. The movie feels very sappy sitcom sweet so much so that even Linda “Alice” Lavin plays L Lo’s nana. It’s written by Kate Angelo who penned “Will & Grace” so that would explain it. That said, Lopez is as adorable as she can be and a smart career strategist in always choosing these Maid of Honor” and “Wedding Planner” parts within her comfort zone of performance. But for anybody contemplating the responsibility of having a baby solo and all the nightmares that go along with it, see this movie, and you’ll quite possibly change your mind. Two and a half tiaras
