a delightful yet poignant movie about what it might feel like when confronted with kicking the bucket sooner than you had anticipated. Jack Nicholson is “Jack” the way we love him, playing the role of Edward Cole, a rich and ornery guy with a heart of mush. Morgan Freeman portrays Carter Chambers, a simple car mechanic with wisdom and a peaceful calm. When the two meet as roommates in a cancer wing of a hospital, suddenly they begin to think about the list of things they never accomplished. Next thing we know, they’re off doing them. Not since the movie “Cocoon” has a film analyzed the wishful longing of youth with such a delicate blend of reality and melancholy. For anybody confronting death, a loved one with a terminal illness, or for anybody just too lazy to live life, this is a lesson in the fact that life is what you make it, and what you make it, is up to you.
